Seduction by Evolved

seduction1

A toy I received for review from the wonderful PinkCherry.com : the Seduction.  The Seduction is a velvety-smooth, elegant traditional vibrator.  It’s not the quietest thing in the world, but the shape is nice and it’s reasonably powerful.  The Seduction comes in a pretty and convenient aluminum tin with a foam inset.  The top of the tin has a clear plastic window so you can see the toy inside.  I’ve been storing it inside the box, but if you need super discretion, it might not be the best choice since it has “Waterproof” “3-Speed” and “Phthalate free” all over the box.

I got the Seduction in pink, but it also comes in lavender.  The base that screws off for battery insertion (and houses the control button) is a darker shade than the rest of the vibrator.  The shaft bulges out at the top before tapering back to a (rounded) point.  The bulge feels very nice when thrusting.

The vibrations are controlled by a button at the base. There are three settings: the first two are only barely distinguishable, and there’s a huge jump in power and volume when you click to the highest setting.  The highest setting is *really* loud.  The tip of the vibe is actually pretty good for pinpoint clit stimulation: the vibrations are fairly concentrated.  Since the vibrations themselves are housed in the bulge at the top of the shaft, I found that I enjoyed this toy the most when I used it for shallow penetration, right around the vaginal opening.

So, all in all, not a bad toy for $35.  It probably won’t rock the seasoned toy collector’s world, but it’d be great for a newbie or anyone in the market for a quality traditional vibe.  The smooth finish on the plastic really is lovely.  Head over to pinkcherry.com and get your own.

Don Wands Bent Graduate

Hi everyone! I apologize for my long hiatus (real life got in the way). I’d like to talk now about the Don Wands Bent Graduate, an affordable glass toy generously sent to me by pinkcherry.com.

(Yes, that is an article on language evolution by Noam Chomsky that this toy was photographed on.  What?  I turned it over!)

There are many, many good things to say about this toy.  First is that, as mentioned above, it’s affordable.  You can get it from pinkcherry.com for about $35.  This is a great thing for anyone who has looked at beautiful Phallix glass toys that retail for about $200 and despaired.  The more affordable glass, the better!  And, quite frankly, it isn’t usually the case that you get what you pay for: my favorite glass toys have all been on the inexpensive side. (Plus, the Rainbow Mega Nubby, another Don Wands glass dildo, is basically the most popular glass toy ever.)

The Bent Graduate comes with a sample of Wet Platinum silicone lube and a ludicrously puffy pink case to prevent damage:

dscn0168 (It looks funny, but you’ll be glad to have the case if you ever drop it!  And  yes, I’m going to continue to degrade that fine piece of scholarship by  taking photos of sex toys on it.)

Anyway, glass is a great sex toy material.  It’s phthalates-free and body-  friendly.  The Bent Graduate is made of Pyrex glass, which means it’s  basically indestructible.  You should still check it for little chips and  cracks (and if you find any, stop using it!), but they’re unlikely to happen.    I’m sure you’ve read elsewhere the wonderful temperature retaining  properties of Pyrex glass, so I won’t go into detail here: suffice to say that  this  toy was ice cold when it first arrived and within a few minutes of  using it  was warmer than me.  Glass is awesome.

Personally, I really enjoyed pairing this toy with a small clit vibe (I  usually go for my trusty Xtreme Pack).  I like  glass toys best after I’ve  warmed up a little, maybe orgasmed once already.  My favorite part about  this dildo is that since the curve on the g-spotting end is so pronounced, I could insert it and rub my clit against the shaft.

Another great thing is that both ends of this dildo are usable.  The  drastically curved end is great for g-spotting (although the head is kind of small, so g-spot stimulation might be more challenging with this toy for those who don’t know exactly where theirs is).  The end with the bulbs also feels really nice during penetration, and the curved end makes an easy-to-hold  handle.  Neither end is particularly thick, which will be good for some people and not good for other people.  Personally, I tend to like my glass  dildos on the thinner side, since the material has no give at all.  For size  comparison purposes, here’s a side-by-side photo of the Bent Graduate  and the ever-popular Lelo Ella:

dscn0164You can see from this photo how pronounced the g-spot curve on the Bent Graduate is.

Glass is an easy material to care for: you can use all kinds of lubricants with it (oil-based lubes are not recommended for penetrative use, though).  Glass can be sterilized (Pyrex glass can be boiled, wiped down with a 10% bleach solution, or placed in the dishwasher, top rack, no soap), so this toy could be used with multiple partners or could be switched between vaginal and anal use if sterilized properly in between.

The Bent Graduate could be used as an anal toy, if you were careful: the bulbous handle is a little thicker than the rest of the toy, so it could be used safely as a base.  The curve might be really nice for prostate stimulation on a guy, just a thought.

All in all, I’d say go for it, unless you’re a size queen, in which case, this dildo is probably not for you.  But otherwise, I’d say it’d be a great addition to the collection of glass afficionados everywhere.  Head over to pinkcherry.com and check it out!

Smart Balls vs. Luna Beads: Let’s get ready to ruuumblllllllllllle!

Silicone vaginal balls VS                   Two pairs of variably weighted balls and silicone cradle for pelvic exercise !!!

It’s the match-up of the century!  OK, yes, hyperbole.  So I know there are roughly 126,039,859,948 reviews of Smart Balls and Luna Beads out there, and mostly they’re positive.  I’m not trying to be redundant, but I thought a side-by-side, point-by-point, ball-by-ball comparison of the two systems might be useful for someone trying to decide between them.  Off we go!

Price: The Smart Balls clock in in the $20 to $25 range, depending on where you purchase them.  The Luna beads are a little more pricey, generally in the $35 to $45 range.  For the extra money, you get a reusable storage box and two sets of differently-weighted balls with the Luna Beads.  And a one year warranty.

Size:

sizecomparison

You can see here that the Smart Balls are quite a bit bigger than the Luna Beads, both in length and diameter.  The Smart Balls are 4 1/2 inches long and have a diameter of 1 3/8 inches, while the Luna beads are only 3 1/2 inches long and 1 3/8 in diameter: however this measurement includes the girdle, so the balls themselves are actually smaller than that.

The Smart Balls weigh  in at 40 grams.  The Luna Beads, depending on which weighted balls you have in the girdle (the pink balls are lighter), range from 28 to 74 grams.  (Both toys are made in Europe and I’m too lazy to convert out of metric.  It’s late.)

Materials: The Smart Balls are made of elastomed (otherwise known as thermoplastic elasomer), which is flexible and phthalates-free.  The Luna Beads themselves, on the other hand, are made of plastic, while the girdle that holds the two balls together is made of white silicone.

Experience: I tested each toy for about a week, week 1 the Luna Beads (I’m still on the lower weight pink balls), week 2 the Smart Balls.  I used them for about 30 minutes a day, going about my activities: walking to class, sitting in a boring talk, etc (my life is so exciting).  One thing I noticed right away when I tried the Smart balls is that I found them a little uncomfortable.  It wasn’t constant, definitely more on and off.  It wasn’t a high degree of discomfort, but it was definitely noticeable compared to the Luna Beads.  I might just have a short vaginal canal or something, but I concluded that the discomfort was due to the larger size of the Smart Balls.  The middle part between the beads is definitely more flexible in the Luna Beads than the Smart Balls, which also may have contributed to the minor, occasional discomfort.

Insertion was a little more difficult with the Smart Balls than the Luna Beads, but putting lube on both balls helps a lot (just don’t use silicone lube with the Luna Beads, since the girdle is made of silicone).  I couldn’t really feel the weighted balls in either toy unless I was moving around a lot.

luna

During my Luna Bead week, I also tried removing the ball with the retrieval string from the girdle and inserting it by itself.  You definitely get more of a traditional Ben Wa kind of experience this way, and it felt like I was getting more of a workout since the diameter of the ball is smaller without the girdle.

In the end, I think I felt more of a difference in muscle strength with the Luna Beads.  Maybe it was because I was more enthusiastic about clenching them because there was no risk of discomfort.

Opinion of the rando who owns this blog: Honestly, I like the Luna Beads better.  You get a lot more options: you can vary the weight for resistance training of the pelvic floor muscles and you can use the balls individually without the girdle and get a more intense workout.

That said, the differences I’ve noted above between the Smart Balls and the Luna Beads really are nitpicky and minimal.  I experienced a little discomfort, but it should be noted that LOTS of other people don’t.  Both toys are easy to use and to clean (if anything, the Luna Beads are a little more high maintenance since you can’t use silicone lube).  A point in the Smart Balls’ favor is that they come in a huge array of colors.  As you can see from the picture above, mine is the metallic green/silver combo, which I think is gorgeous.

I’ve decided I’d like to try using my Pure Wand as a kegelcisor, and eventually as a follow-up to this post I’ll compare the ball system to the wand system.  Stay tuned!
Note: Fun Factory manufactures a single ball Smart Ball-type thing called the teneo uno.  It doesn’t appear to be marketed in the US at the moment, but if/when it is, I’m all over it.

Another New Eden Review!

Harness and silicone dildo set

I’m being quite productive.  Just not on my real work!

I’ve got a review up on Eden for the Chest Harness with Dildo set, which is a great accessory for solo play (can’t really attest to its intended usage, sadly).
